May 22nd, 2004, Kade Whitaker (my brother) died at the age of 16 in a car accident. Linda Bull, my grandmother, also died in this accident. My mother, Lisa Whitaker, loves the cross over Wenatchee. I thought having it lit on the 22nd may help keep her mind on the Lord on that difficult day. Basically, my hope is that Lisa will be able to look at this anniversary from a Godly perspective.

Onna knew and loved the Lord and had faith and trust in God
that he was in control during her illness.
Her life here with us was a true testimony of that faith
and she hoped that others would come to know Christ as she did.
Onna, your light did shine.

Marlene Tate passed way Sunday after a long battle with back problems.
The arthritis in her back made it painful everyday.
It comforts us to know she is now in no pain.
She loved to watch the us boys' play in all our sports and was our biggest fan!
She loved collecting deer figurine or anything else associated with them.
Crocheting making blankets for all the family and was the most giving
person you would meet.
All the Tate and VanHoven famliy miss her dearly but we knew she was a
Christian and is now in Heaven.

In memory of Earl H. Nelson Jr., loving family man, devoted friend, loyal employee, a man with a gentle and loving heart. He loved his Lord and died in peace knowing that he would be whole once again. I can’t help but believe he is skiing the best powder slopes with old friends, fishing for the biggest salmon and playing with his dog, Sutton, who never left his side in his last years. Earl Nelson was a good man; he loved and was loved by all who knew him.

The cross is lit in memory of Cassie Miller. Cassie was 10 when she passed at Children’s Hospital from complications brought on by the flu. Not a day goes bye that she isn’t sorely missed and lovingly remembered. She had a special understanding of her relationship with God and asked us before she passed “Why would you want to be here on earth and not be healthy when you could live forever with God in a better place?” Ken, Cris, Chelcee, and Kirby Miller and their extended families.

The cross is lit from November 21 through November 28, 2008 in memory of
Barbara Chamblee Smith
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Barbara left this earthly world on November 21, 2007 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer for nearly five years. She was memorialized on November 28, 2007 which would have been her 68 th birthday. Barbara had a profound effect on so many people who miss her dearly. Words cannot quite describe her, but if you were to look up the word “grace” in the dictionary it would say “Barbara.
We miss you, Mom, Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday.

2nd post for Brabara Smith:
One year ago today, November 21st., Barbara Ann Smith was taken home by her Savior Jesus Christ and now she lives forever in our hearts here on earth.
We all have fond memories of her. One of mine was when I first met her at an “after glow”, in Oxnard, Calif. Sunday evening meeting where we had Christian fellowship and singing. She was late coming from Mississippi, where some of her family lived. With that big smile, everyone so excited to see and visit with her. I was introduced to her. She said that it was love at first sight {her secret}. For the next four years of dating off and on, I a 24 year old man with four children and her 18 (I thought looking in her twenties)so stately and sophisticated, (which she never lost) we fell in love and, were married for 45years
Just one of my memories, what’s yours ?

We light the cross tonight in memory of Tricia Hopkins, our very much loved mother, daughter, friend, and Omama. Tricia taught us by example how to journey through life as a faithful servant, how to choose the blessings in each day, how to press into God and welcome the peace of Christ, and finally, how to surrender completely and willingly to the perfect timing and will of God as he called her home that beautiful May morning. We have all been blessed by having Tricia in our lives.

I am asking for the cross to be lit on January 27 in memory of Earl Nelson’s passing, January 27, 2005. He was the beloved father of Paige, Blake and Jill and deceased husband of Connie. Our family remembers Earl with much love and affection. He was a brave man as he fought ill health for many years. He loved his family very much and is remembered with love and respect by all who knew him. He loved his Lord and this lighting of the cross is a visible reminder of his love and devotion. Earl was a faithful husband and a loving father and grandfather. He was a good and kind man. The cross is light tonight in honor of our daughter, Laura Briggs' birthday. She was a joy to us from the moment she was born on a cold January day 22 years ago. Laura we love you and are blessed to be your parents.

The lit Cross honors the 90th birthdays of our two mothers, Anita Krober and Lorraine Whiteman. They were born November 7, 1917 and February 9, 1918. They are visiting Wenatchee, having come for their grandson's wedding. Our families have been deeply blessed because of these two remarkable ladies. The choices they've made and lives they've lived, has graced us with an incredible heritage. Their uncommon legacy stems from their long-ago choice to follow Jesus. We are grateful!

I would like to dedicate the lighting of this Glorious Cross to be in remembrance of a very special lady, my mother, Kathleen Cairy, who we lost 1 year ago today. The person that I want to honor with tonight’s lighting is a wonderful and caring person that I have had the pleasure of knowing most all of my life. She has stuck by me and loved me unconditionally in all my trials and through all the trials I put her through.
She has always been there. To this day she is the second most important woman in my life, a close second only to my wife. I love and cherish her with all of my heart. Thank you MOM…Barbara Smith.
Let me know any stories that you have or feelings about the cross. I will
try to post them in time.
Thanks and God Bless.
