June 14

Dedicated to all the congregation/Laborers for Christ/contractors and any volunteers that helped in the construction of the new sanctuary at Faith Lutheran Church, East Wenatchee.  Without all their help and prayers, we could not have completed the project.  To God be all the glory!

May 22

May 22nd, 2004, Kade Whitaker (my brother) died at the age of 16 in a car accident. Linda Bull, my grandmother, also died in this accident. My mother, Lisa Whitaker, loves the cross over Wenatchee. I thought having it lit on the 22nd may help keep her mind on the Lord on that difficult day. Basically, my hope is that Lisa will be able to look at this anniversary from a Godly perspective.

Onna knew and loved the Lord and had faith and trust in God

that he was in control during her illness.

Her life here with us was a true testimony of that faith

and she hoped that others would come to know Christ as she did.

Onna, your light did shine.

In memory of Earl H. Nelson Jr., loving family man, devoted friend, loyal employee, a man with a gentle and loving heart.  He loved his Lord and died in peace knowing that he would be whole once again.  I can’t help but believe he is skiing the best powder slopes with old friends, fishing for the biggest salmon and playing with his dog, Sutton, who never left his side in his last years.  Earl Nelson was a good man; he loved and was loved by all who knew him.

The cross is lit from November 21 through November 28, 2008 in memory of

Barbara Chamblee Smith

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

Barbara left this earthly world on November 21, 2007 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer for nearly five years. She was memorialized on November 28, 2007 which would have been her 68 th birthday. Barbara had a profound effect on so many people who miss her dearly. Words cannot quite describe her, but if you were to look up the word “grace” in the dictionary it would say “Barbara.

We miss you, Mom, Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday.

“Those who gave our lives beauty shall live forever in our hearts.”

Wife of Lee

Mother to Dawn, Michael, Randall, Christopher, Rebecca and Matthew

Grandmother to Gwenevere, Jason, Chris, Gabe, Jessica, Paul, Annie, Jennifer, Andrew, Nathaniel, Avery and Morgan

Sister to LeMar, Gary, Rodney and Richard

2nd post for Brabara Smith:

One year  ago  today, November 21st., Barbara Ann Smith was taken home by her Savior Jesus Christ and now she lives forever in our hearts  here on earth.

We all have fond memories of her. One of mine was when I first met her at an “after glow”, in Oxnard, Calif. Sunday evening meeting where we had Christian fellowship and singing. She was late coming from Mississippi, where some of her family lived. With that big smile, everyone so excited to see and visit with her. I was introduced to her. She said that it was love at first sight {her secret}. For the next four years of dating off and on, I a 24 year old man with four children and her 18 (I thought looking  in her twenties)so stately and sophisticated,  (which she never lost) we fell in love and, were married for 45years

Just one of my memories, what’s yours ?

On this Veteran's Day, we wish to let all veterans know that they are special and we honor them no matter what capacity they served in.  This was their part in making sure our nation continues.

Within our own church, the only living World War II Veteran WE KNOW OF is Wiley Jones, who served in the Navy.  The Korean War Veterans WE KNOW OF are Rod Scott, who served in the Navy; Al Christoph, who served in the Army; and Doug Steer, who served in the Canadian Army Airborne, now a U.S. Citizen.  The Vietnam Veterans WE KNOW OF are Ron Melcher, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps, now living near Ephrata; and James Hall, who served in the Army Paratroopers.  Currently serving in Iraq now that WE KNOW OF are Tameika Jensen, Army; J. Austin Miller, Marines; Michael Reynoldson, Army; Tyler Berry, Marines; Chip Millette, Army; Matthew Millette, National Guard; and, of course, our own Washington National Guard, 81st Brigade Combat Team.  Thank you, Lord, for keeping them safe and bringing them back.

Additionally, we would like to thank these other veterans WE KNOW OF that have also served our nation: Jerry Chapton, Army; Jim Miller, Army; Wayne Cooper, Navy; Ted Davies, Army; Dianne Davies, Army; Pastor Jay Caron, Navy; Pastor Jim Jensen, Army; Gabriel Reynoldson, Army Air Force; Gary D. Zimmerman, Army; Richard C. Johnson, Army.  Those in service, but still in training:  Justin K. Dennis, Army (in Kansas); John M. Keefer, Navy (U.S.S. Peleliu); and Jonathan Tolliver, Army (Missouri).

We realize there are many veterans from the last 65 years that we do not know about, and we would like to honor all of them today.  Especially we want to honor the Vietnam Vets because the media people did not want them to know it was only the raucous minority who they put in the papers.  The huge majority could not get the media to print good news about you (the media is doing the same now to the Iraq veterans and to those currently serving over there).  Please accept that the majority at home were praying for you and are thankful you served and are back.

March 11

The cross is lit in loving memory of my sweet little mother-in-law Rose Ferraro.  She was born March 11, 1913 and passed away just a few week ago February 15, 2008.  She and her twin sister, Mary were the first to be born in the US from Italy.

Her philosophy for life"share your love - love one another"  Rosie knew that the true secret for happiness was in doing something for others - whether it was making her homemade meatballs and sauce, baking biscotti's or giving hugs -- and the way she lived her life illustrated this. Rosie was a hard worker - she faced every day with the love of God in her heart.  She was a faithful and loyal friend, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was made out of true Italian grit and was a woman of honesty and integrity.  Looking back at the events in her life, she was a beautiful light, mirrored through Christ.  We all have been most fortunate to be blessed with such wonderful person, my mom.  Our sweet little Rosie - we will miss you.  Dominick and Mary Beth Ferraro

I am asking for the cross to be lit on January 27 in memory of Earl Nelson’s passing, January 27, 2005. He was the beloved father of Paige, Blake and Jill and deceased husband of Connie.  Our family remembers Earl with much love and affection. He was a brave man as he fought ill health for many years.  He loved his family very much and is remembered with love and respect by all who knew him.  He loved his Lord and this lighting of the cross is a visible reminder of his love and devotion. Earl was a faithful husband and a loving father and grandfather.  He was a good and kind man.  Connie, Paige and Kelly Swan, Matt and Kathryn, Blake and Amy Nelson, Chase and Robby, Jill and David Mowell, Daemian and Hannah.

The cross is light tonight in honor of our daughter, Laura Briggs' birthday.  She was a joy to us from the moment she was born on a cold January day 22 years ago.  Throughout her life she has been a light for Christ.  One of the things we appreciate the most about Laura is her friendliness to everyone, young and old alike.  Laura we love you and are blessed to be your parents.

"The Cross is lit tonight in memory of C. A. "Bill" Nolph, our loving husband and father, who inspired and supported us to follow our dreams, who always had a new project to research, who shared his gift of seeing the photograph with many others, and who held an abiding faith in Christ.

I would like to thank Mike Stancil and Frank Tukey and the rest of the folks at Vita Green for their effort in lighting the cross thru the holiday season.

December 16

The lit Cross honors the 90th birthdays of our two mothers, Anita Krober and Lorraine Whiteman.  They were born November 7, 1917 and February 9, 1918.  They are visiting Wenatchee, having come for their grandson's wedding.  Our families have been deeply blessed because of these two remarkable ladies.  The choices they've made and lives they've lived, has graced us with an incredible heritage.  Their uncommon legacy stems from their long-ago choice to follow Jesus.  We are grateful!

December 4

I would like to dedicate the lighting of this Glorious Cross to be in remembrance of a very special lady, my mother, Kathleen Cairy, who we lost 1 year ago today.  I know she watches over us now as she always did with the Lord by her side.  Mom, know that you are truly loved and missed.  I also add my thanks to my wonderful husband, Stephen Sewell and my son, Steven Lindsey who never fail to be by my side.

Novenber 23

"Today, in honor of my Grandparents, George and Hazel Brooks, the light of this beautiful cross shines down on the Wenatchee Valley. The place that they raised their children and watched grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren come into this world. Their love and guidance touched each and every one of us in a very special way. We were so blessed to have you in our lives to share with us the wonderful love of our Lord, Jesus Christ. You will never be forgotten, we all love and miss you".

Novenber 21

"I would like to honor our father, Greg Peterson, who passed away Nov 16.  He was a man that brought out the best in everyone that he came in contact with.  He loved the Wenatchee Valley, and the cross will always remind us that he is looking down over us and protecting us.  On behalf of my mother Susan and my brother John, I would like to say we love you and we miss you dearly."

November 9th

"In tribute to our father, Tony DeRooy, from his children.  He passed away on November 9, 2006.  He is undoubtedly watching us from heaven, and the cross will remind us of his faith, and of how much he loved us, and how much we loved him."

My DAD---Lee Smith

October 28th-07

The person that I want to honor with tonight’s lighting is a wonderful and caring person that I have had the pleasure of knowing most all of my life. She has stuck by me and loved me unconditionally in all my trials and through all the trials I put her through.

She has always been there. To this day she is the second most important woman in my life, a close second only to my wife. I love and cherish her with all of my heart. Thank you MOM…Barbara Smith.

Let me know any stories that you have or feelings about the cross. I will try to post them in time.
